Manages the daily operations and activities of the Pediatric, Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Hematology Oncology, and Pediatric Infusion & Sedation units and assist the Pediatric Services Nurse Director with the daily operations of the department.
1. Assist in developing departmental policies and procedures relating to the Pediatric Services Departments. Reviews and evaluates existing policies and procedures by means of periodic studies.
2. Holds staff accountable for following policies, protocols, and Patient Flow priorities.
3. Continually works with staff members in executing a positive task focused atmosphere on the unit; counsels and encourages staff to work as a team.
4. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
5. Serves as a role model within the Department and across the organization.
6. Demonstrates sound independent decision making by the ability to assess situations from a variety of perspectives, consider alternatives and choose the most appropriate course of action.
7. Ability to identify staff learning needs; assist in planning and organizing orientation and in-service training for employees. Ensures attendance of employee at mandatory education.
8. Assists Pediatric Services Director in conducting yearly performance reviews of employees on a timely manner.
9. Communicates expectations to staff members (upon hiring, evaluation and reinforcing on an ongoing basis) and holding them responsible. Reviews competencies and monitors staff performance, providing feedback during first 90 days.
10. Maintains an open line communication with employees, physicians and administration. Conducts daily department huddles and develops mechanism to enhance communication.

1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
2. BSN required, MSN preferred
1. Minimum 5 year Pediatrics and/or PICU experience required
2. Minimum 2 years related management experience
Other Qualifications
1. Current Florida Nursing License required
2. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support card
3. Current American Heart Association ACLS certification required (ACLS)
4. Current American Heart Association PALS certification required (PALS)
5. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification (NRP) required
6. Advanced certification such as CPN, CCRN, etc. preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
