Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities Management and/or the Assistant Director, assists in general maintenance functions of the hospital, grounds and hospital properties.

  • Performs general maintenance and construction functions unassisted OR as directed by the Director of Facilities Management or the Engineering Manager.

  • Greases, oils, wipes, does filter changes, belt changing sewer cleaning, roof repair, caulking, grouting, replaces glass, and repairs equipment.

  • Interior and exterior lighting, bulb changes

  • Immediately identifies, sequesters and informs the Engineering Supervisor or any malfunctioning equipment.

  • Achieves to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.

  • Shows working knowledge and ability to perform medium task assignments in air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.

  • Reviews all work orders and immediately calls to the attention of the supervisor all orders which cannot be completed.

  • Helps maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.

  • Records data as required on equipment logs.


  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Trade schools helpful. Ability to read, write and understand English.


  • Have at least three years of commercial or industrial experience in maintenance and repair.

  • Have at least 2 years' of practical experience in an accredited hospital engineering department preferred.

  • Credit for related work experience will be determined by the Director of Facilities Management and may overrule the above requirements.

Other Qualifications

  • This position requires the ability to work in adverse physical conditions to include high heat, humidity and moisture. This position has no responsibility for the assessment, treatment, or care of patients. However, the ability to communicate and interact with patients of all ages is required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
